The number-one tell of faux florals is sparseness. A proper hydrangea arrangement has five to seven full blooms touching each other — not three lonely stems rattling in a glass cylinder. Buy in bulk, fluff each bloom by hand, and bend the wire stems so they fall naturally to one side.
Match the vessel to the room, not the flower
A hydrangea bud vase in chinoiserie blue belongs on a nightstand or powder-room counter. A larger ginger jar holds a full bouquet for the dining table or entry console. Mixing scales across the house keeps the look intentional rather than themed.
Layer with a botanical print for depth
