Nantucket Style for Nordic Homes
Kystinspirert interiør fra New England
More of you write to us from Norway than from anywhere else outside the States — and it makes perfect sense. A grey harbour morning in Bergen and a grey harbour morning on Nantucket are the same weather, the same light, the same instinct to bring blue and white indoors. This page gathers the pieces that travel best to a Norwegian home or hytte, with plain answers about shipping, kroner, and MVA.
Built for grey light
Nantucket blue-and-white was invented for a climate with long, soft, low light — the same reason it sits so easily beside Scandinavian pine, linen, and whitewash.
Made for small rooms
Lightship baskets, hydrangea stems, a stack of striped pillows: coastal style here is carried by small pieces, not big furniture. It suits an apartment in Oslo as well as a house on the water.
Kept, not replaced
Handwoven baskets, cotton quilts, ceramic lamps — the kind of things you keep for twenty years. We would rather send you one good piece than five disposable ones.

Shipping to Norway, Plainly
- Do you ship to Norway?
- Most pieces here are fulfilled by partner merchants — Amazon, Etsy sellers, and specialty shops — the majority of whom ship to Norway. Cost and delivery window always appear at checkout before you pay. Our own Nantucket Charm totes and tees are the exception: our little Nantucket shop currently ships to United States addresses only. If you would like one sent to Norway, write to us and we will arrange it individually.
- What about MVA and customs?
- Imported goods carry 25% Norwegian MVA. Merchants registered under VOEC collect it at checkout for orders up to 3 000 kr, so nothing is owed at the door. If a merchant is not VOEC-registered — or the order is above 3 000 kr — the carrier collects MVA plus a customs handling fee (commonly 150–400 kr) on arrival. Worth knowing before you order something large.
- Which currency am I charged in?
- Prices are listed in US dollars. The kroner figures on this page are approximate, for orientation only; your card is charged in the merchant's currency at the day's rate, and your bank may add a foreign transaction fee of one to two percent.
- Returns?
- Returns follow the fulfilling merchant's policy, usually 30 days. Small pieces are straightforward; furniture rarely is, which is why this page leans towards baskets, textiles, florals, and table pieces.
- How long does delivery take?
- Typically one to three weeks from the States, depending on the merchant and carrier. Order Christmas pieces by late November — Norwegian Christmas Eve comes a day earlier than the American one, and shipping does not know that.
