The Blue & White Morning Side Table

This is the smallest look we have ever published and possibly the most useful. It is one painted side table — a soft powder blue, pulled up beside a slipcovered chair where the morning light comes through the lace — and everything on it was chosen to be looked at before eight in the morning. A clear acrylic book vase holds a dozen orange-and-yellow tulips, which is the only warm color in the room and the reason the whole corner feels awake. Four hand-painted hydrangea birds with little gold beaks line up in front of it, marching toward a pale blue retro alarm clock. A tulip-embossed ceramic mug with a flower-topped spoon sits on a scalloped placemat with a croissant on a blue-and-white plate. Behind it all, a chinoiserie table lamp with an ivory bell shade, a crackle-glaze vase of cream peonies, and peony-and-bird toile wallpaper doing the quiet work in the background. Nothing here is expensive and nothing here is precious — it is just fifteen small decisions made in the same color story, which is what makes a corner look styled instead of accumulated.
